Microsoft Surface service
Surfaces are the hardest mainstream device to repair, and we'd rather say that plainly than take your money to discover it. Plenty of Surface problems are still worth looking at — but the physical ones have real limits, and they're not limits we can talk our way around.
What we can usually help with
- Windows problems, failed updates, and machines that changed behaviour overnight.
- Slowdowns, storage filling up, and account or login trouble.
- Malware and browser hijacks.
- Getting your files off a Surface that still powers on.
- Telling you honestly whether a physical fault is economic to pursue.
Where the limits are
Surface devices are glued rather than screwed, with the screen bonded to the chassis and the battery bonded behind it. Opening one to replace a screen or a battery risks the display, and on most models the storage is soldered to the board. That's a design decision by Microsoft, and it constrains every repair shop equally.
Come in before you commit
Bring it in and we'll look at it and tell you where it falls — software problem worth fixing, or hardware fault where Microsoft's own replacement programme is the better route. That conversation happens before you commit to anything.
Straight answer
For a cracked Surface screen or a swollen Surface battery, Microsoft's own service or replacement programme is usually the better answer, and we'll send you there rather than take a job we can't do well. We are not a Microsoft authorized service provider. If the data is what matters, that's a different question and often a more hopeful one — ask us about that specifically.
The service this usually lands on
- Computer Repair — problems people bring us every week
- Data Recovery — situations we recover from
Common questions
What kinds of computers do you work on?
PCs and Macs, laptops and desktops, plus custom builds. We’re a Dell Authorized partner and handle Apple/Mac repairs in-shop. Common jobs: virus & malware removal, hardware upgrades (RAM, SSD, GPU), data recovery, and network & business IT.
Is my data safe with you?
Your data stays private — we only access what’s needed to complete your repair. Have specific questions about your files? Just ask when you drop off and we’ll walk you through how we handle everything.
What happens if my computer can’t be fixed?
We tell you straight. After we diagnose it, you get an honest recommendation — sometimes that’s a repair, and sometimes the better answer is putting the money toward a replacement (we sell tech-tested computers too). Either way, you approve everything before any work starts.
