Computer won't wake from sleep

Sleep and "off" are not the same state, and a machine stuck in one looks a lot like the other from the outside. The distinction matters, because one of these is usually a quick software fix and the other is a hardware conversation.

First, tell the two apart

What usually causes it

The reset that gets you working again

Holding the power button for about ten seconds forces a restart and gets most people unstuck in the moment. That's a workaround, not a fix — if it's happening regularly, the underlying driver or setting is worth sorting out so you're not doing it daily.

Straight answer

If a hard reset reliably brings the machine back, this is an annoyance worth fixing but not an emergency — it's not the same as the machine dying. It only becomes a power-on problem, and a different conversation, if the hard reset stops working too. Worth knowing before you assume the worst.

Common questions

How long will my repair take?

Most repairs are back in your hands in 24–48 hours. When we diagnose your device, we’ll give you a realistic timeframe up front.

How much will it cost?

No appointment needed — stop in for a quick consultation, and we’ll take a look and quote it up front, in plain English. No surprises. Prefer to call first? Reach us at 941-625-TECH (8324).

Can you fix my computer without me bringing it in?

Often, yes. Many software problems can be handled remotely — we connect over a live screen-share while you watch everything we do. Call first and we’ll tell you honestly whether remote help will work or the machine needs to come into the shop.
