Computer running slower every month?
Almost nobody needs a new computer as soon as they think they do. A machine that takes four minutes to reach the desktop is usually telling you something specific, and in a lot of cases it's the drive — not the age.
The four usual causes, in the order we see them
- A spinning hard drive in a machine that should have an SSD. This is the big one, and the fix is dramatic — the same computer feels new.
- Not enough memory for how you actually work. Twenty browser tabs and a spreadsheet need more RAM than the machine shipped with.
- Too much launching at startup. Software that all wants to load first, every boot.
- Something unwanted running — adware, a browser hijack, or a program mining your patience in the background.
Signs it's the drive specifically
- The machine is fine once it's warmed up, but the boot takes forever.
- The drive light stays solid rather than flickering.
- Opening a folder full of photos makes everything else stall.
- You can hear it — a faint tick or a whirring that changes when you open something.
What we do about it
We check the drive's health first, because a slow drive and a failing drive look identical from the outside and one of them is urgent. Then memory, then what's actually running. You get the finding and the quote before any work starts.
Straight answer
Some slowness genuinely is age — a machine built for an older version of Windows will not feel quick no matter what we do to it, and we'll tell you that rather than sell you an upgrade that won't land. Equally, a drive that's slow because it's failing is a different conversation entirely, and that one is worth acting on quickly.

Most repairs are back in your hands in 24–48 hours. When we diagnose your device, we’ll give you a realistic timeframe up front.
How much will it cost?
No appointment needed — stop in for a quick consultation, and we’ll take a look and quote it up front, in plain English. No surprises. Prefer to call first? Reach us at 941-625-TECH (8324).
Will I lose my photos and files during a repair?
